Hey fellow bubble blowers,
Going to be organizing and participating in the International Clean Up Day with PADI on September 19, 2009. Making plans to make the trip out to Horn or one of the other Barrier Islands and do some beach and underwater clean up. If anyone is interested, let me know. Looking to try to get a head count as I am trying to line up boats for this event. So far, I know that I have two boats with a passenger capability of 10. If you have a boat and want to join, let me know as well. This clean up is going to be in conjunction with PADI. The Coast Wide Clean Up is actually slated for later in October due to hurricane season. We got blew out for both dates last year, but I am hoping for some fair weather this year. PADI sent some little freebies for anyone that participates for me to hand out. Nothing great, just free, LOL!!! Anyways, should be a good time and family friendly. Just drop me a note or message and smoke signals won't work.

Just to touch base. Trip is still on. Might get called for weather, but thats the chance you take going outdoors. Let me know if anyone is interested. Looking for boat owners as well.

If any of you all aren't to water logged. I just checked the weather and they are calling for two's on Saturday so the cleanup is on. Yes, we are diving for trash. Probably on or around the grass beds so there ought to be plenty of little creatures for all to see. Let me know in advance if you are planning on making this event. This is the International Clean Up being conducted inconjunction with PADI's Project Aware. Come on out and have some fun. Bring your snacks and a little gas money just to help with the fuel and have a good time. Probably no more than $10 bucks. It's only 9 miles out. Non-divers are welcome. Please, no small children, or Frank. LOL!!!

I'm considering this, Do you have any details? What time and where do you plan to meet up and what time do you think we'll finish up? Do we need to bring anything besides gas money, snacks, and scuba gear.

I figure we can meet one of two ways. You can meet me by the interstate and follow me in or I can give you directions to the boat launch. Plan on meeting at 8am so we can be in the water and going by 9am. I am guessing we will be done by 3pm. Only taking one tank, not very deep water. Maybe 15 feet max. I'd bring a pair of gloves if you don't already have some. I have pencils, cards to record the data and trash bags, so that's covered. And I also have some stickers and such that PADI sent to give out. Frank, you're invited. Just had to get that occasional jab in,  I'll be providing bottled water and ice. Just remember, space is at a premium so don't bring "everything", LOL!! I'll also have 3 towable surface dive flags for the teams. Might make a fun dive at a location near the clean up site. Shouldn't cost much more in gas.
