If you'd rather do a boat dive in Pensacola, I know a charter service down there that does a great job.  It's a six pack boat and he does trips according to customers desires; near shore, offshore and the Mighty "O".  Let me know and I'll get you the info.

The "O" trip is $150 or $155.  That includes lunch and water on the boat.  I use Captain Dalton Kennedy of Due South Custom Charters.  Tell him Shrek sent ya.  Not that I get anything out of it, but he'd be glad to know his name is getting out.  He has a 26' Dusky CSS with twin 4-stroke outboards.  Out quick and in quick.  Leaves all the big charters lugging behind.  If you want his number, send me a message.

Get to the jetties early.

I was there last weekend and the tables were off by an hour.  The locals were packing up as we pulled in, and we were early.  It was an instant "Oh, crap" moment.....

Also, be VERY wary about folks fishing.  Even though there is a dedicated fishing peer, I still ended up having to cut a line from a diver.  He came ashore with two bait fish with hooks attached to his tank valve.  Damn lucky he didn't have a hook in him.

Even though we were late in the tide, we still saw a stingray and a school of snapper through all the crap going out.  Over all it was a good dive, but the fishermen had line all over the damn place.  We couldn't hit the main jetty because of it, but we did find the jeep and golf cart.

Current was manageable, but out going tide is always crappy.
