Whats up peeps!!! Finally got a calm day in the GOM and it just happened to be opening day of Snapper season Tongue Bottombrowser and I went down to around 75' max. Visibility was poor on the surface, around 10-15' but once below 30' or so it cleared to believe it or not about 35-40'. You could actually see from one side of the rig to the other... Had a blast!!!! Here are a couple pictures of the take.....

Damn, I look sexy....and no, that's not up for debate, LOL!!!!  Had a blast.  Got to do it again REEL SOON!!!  Poor buggers never had a chance.  Old dead eye Iroc had a rather plentiful first spear fishing outing I'd say.  I think he's spoiled now.  And you should have seen the one that got away.  It was a stud, 30+ pounds, but poor old Iroc just couldn't hold on long enough,  tool   No, he really did a great job.  occasion14  Until the next blood letting...........Keep it safe.

We had 4 of us on the boat, 2 divers 2 fishermen. One fisherman wanted to be a diver when we surfaced with the first stringer, LoL

Don't remember the temp, had some tunnel vision.  Had a sharp object in my hand and wanted to run it through some red snapper.  I wore a 3mil as did Iroc and we were perfectly comfortable.  I'd wear a 3mil just for the protection from the crap on the rig.

Also, if one of your spearguns is a JBL 38 special, it can stay at the house, LOL!!!  Come big or go home hungry.  Naugh really, I've seen a guy try to shoot a nice snapper with one of those and unless you hit it point blank and then push it in, it's gonna bounce off.   toothy5

Glad you guys had a good trip. I just repowered my boat and was hoping to get out there and spear a few also...as luck would have it, the weather/seas don't seem to get right until I'm offshore  Sad.

We planned to go out this weekend, 2 divers and a boat attendant, but with all the rain down there this week, I doubt the visibility will be worth the trip.

What do you guys think?

I really don't think the rain has al whole lot to do with it out there as long as you catch it when the tide is moving In not out u should be ok.

I k ow the feeling of waiting on the weather, always caught me when I was gone too but when u been off foe 3 months u r bound to find a calm day. LOL Just ordered a new prop setup for my boat hope to be out again next weekend unless I find a job. Lmao

When I get off the rig next week, I'm heading to the Bahamas, so June is out for me...but hopefuly the weather during my two weeks off in July will allow for a couple of spearing trips (if you fellas haven't slaughtered all of the snapper and grouper by then!)
