When I was over there as a civilian, that media blackout thing was a joke. So much crap gets put on the internet; ie facebook, myspace and youtube that's it's not funny. The only time comms ever got shut down, was when an offensive was underway near the base and that was usually because they had some suspected insurgents either on base or being fed info from someone on base. Most often, it was for a death that occured on base or within one of the military companies. That was just so that the family found out before the media or through another medium like facebook that their loved one had been killed. Anyways, good luck. Stay safe, keep your head down and your ass even lower.
