K9 Competition

Wish us luck.  K9 Rocko and I will be representing our department this upcoming week at the US Police K9 Association Trials.  This will be our second year competing (so still a lot to learn).  Last year we finished thirteenth out of forty-five dog teams.  Hopefully we will do better this year.  It will be held in Laurel, so if you are in the area and want to see some biting and agility, stop by.  I will post pictures throughout the week. :police:

I just got back.  The competition was great and there were some awesome dogs there.  Past national champions came to train us prior to the trial, so that skills would be sharpened and the contest would be at its best.  Unfortunately we did not win but we had a great run.  If there was an award for "hardest hitting" dog, unanimously we would have won.  We represented our department well and we certified nationally.

Yep. as the rookie, you do what you are told even if it's being the arm man.  The old guys liked to think up new things for you.  One of the guys had a dog that would act like he was going for the sleeve, then duck under it at the last minute, biting you wherever...if you get my drift :o
