Belated Juliet report Oct. 4 - 10, 2008
« on: October 22, 2008, 10:27:50 AM »
Sorry, I've been lazy and haven't posted a trip report.

As usual, the crew was absolutely fantastic.  The food was the best since I've been doing this trip the last 3 years and Beth Ault, the Captain's wife was a wonderful cook and hostess.  We actually sailed most of the time, using the engines very little during the entire week which was wonderful.  The weather mainly was very nice with only the crossing over to Cat Cay being alittle rough.  The return crossing was wonderful.  We sailed to within a few miles of Cuba's territorial waters did 17 dives for the week.  We decided as a group since we were so far south, to head back early on Wednesday, so we only did 2 dives that week and took a much needed afternoon and evening of rest and relaxation with rum punch, beer, etc.  The highlight of the week I suppose, was we were doing wall dive watching a huge hawksbill glide over the wall.  We were at around 115 and as the group began ascending alittle, I saw this big boy headed right for me at about 150.  He was about 12 feet long and beautiful  We also saw and dove with plenty of Caribbean Gray Reef Sharks, eels, turtles, lionfish, Nurse sharks, jaw fish and tons of the normal reef fish for the area.  I'll upload more photos to my gallery when I have a chance to downsize them to fit the site.  All in all, a wonderful week of diving and as the Juliet is moving next year to Puerto Rico, I look forward to diving on her again in a new location.  For more info on the boat, www.sailjuliet.com

Well, screw it, I can't get the photo to embed even after downsizeing it.  It's my avatar.

I was trying to embed the hammerhead pic into the body and couldn't get it to work.  Then when I downsized the photo, it said file was full or something to that effect.
