Most problems in diving originate with ourselves.

« on: October 07, 2008, 02:39:43 PM »

Today I was asked if I got a co-worker interested in scuba.

I said I had nothing to do with her interest in diving. Her interest has always been there, and that it was her husband that never wanted her to dive. This person then said it's probably because the hubby didn't want her to get eaten by sharks!

I then said that I hate remarks like that because it shows their ignorance about scuba diving and sharks.

She then said she appreciated me insulting her intelligence.

Haha... I then said I wasn't insulting her intelligence as a whole, only about sharks and scuba diving.

Sheesh. Some people.

Any of y'all had any similar experiences like this?

All the time, even from divers.  Only difference between me and you in that situation, I wouldn't have corrected her on the 'intelligence' part.  If she so ignorant to think your talking about her intelligence overall, so be it.  Wink
