.
I have a 10 acre pond in MS, 1 mile south I-10 and off from hwy 603 500'. Its deepest part would be around 30', maybe deeper. Its water is pretty clear except flooding time. I am interested to open it for scuba dive but having no knowledge of this kind of sport.

Could any one give me some suggestions!
Thanks,

Hi Doan, I live in Brandon, MS, how far would that be from your location?

If it's not too too far, I would be interested in diving it to see if it would be a good dive location.  As far as liability goes, having folks sign a liability waiver would be your first thing to do, you should be able to find one online for free.

Do you know if the pond has ever been used as a cattle pool?  If so, I wouldn't be interested  Wink

Wow! You answered promptly! It makes my day. Thanks. I often go there on Wed. afternoon and work through Thursday. Its address is 6070 Bayou La Croix. It was a dirt pit; people digged it to take dirt to build hwy 603. Now it is opened to be camp ground and RV.

Direction: from exit 13 on I-10, take south 1 mile, turn right on Bayou La Croix. The gate is 500' (more-less) on your right.

I bought it 12 years ago, raised channel catfish but Katrina wiped all away... and left whole lots of oceanary kind of fishes... even shark, "elegator guard"... Well, I don't like shark. There are scrabs too, some kind of oysters... but it weird..., no meat but shell... I do think shrimp staying in it for I see fish catched them... heavily... at least once evey time being there...

If incidently passing by when I am there, please drop by and take a look, have a cup of coffee, and give me opportunity to say hello...

God bless,

I just came back from the land. The camper owner for worker of a company working on I-10... told me that he saw a shark about 31/2 foot long swimming...

Welcome, if you passing by on Thursday... please drop by. I need your advices.
Now, water is still messing up by Gustav and Ike... What can I say!

Do you dare to dive in this condition? If you would, make sure that I am not reliable...

Of course, you have your own form of waving reliability of owner.

Thanks and welcome...

Come and see by your own eyes. It is saline water with full of ocean fishes...

Mr. Larry Favre is the representative of the camp ground and RV.

You won't loose anything by looking and talking.

If you want to know more before dropping by, talk to him. His phone # 228 217 3454

See you there on Thursday.

Hey fellas, went by and checked this place out.  Took a water sample and having it sent off to be checked before I jump in.  Pond flooded in Katrina and then again in Gustav.  Supposed reports of a 5 foot shark and some more smaller have already been caught.  Owner stated someone saw a 6 footer the other day, but you never know.  Talked to the property owner and lease owner and they are very interested in getting some type of diving operation going, but no swimmers, diving only.  I talked to a friend that is a biologist and he said that if sharks are in there, they very well might be bull sharks because of their tolerance to fresh water. We'll know for sure though when I get the salinity results back (getting bacteria levels checked as well).  Pond is supposedly 35 feet deep and the water was a little murky due to the recent flooding in Gustav.  Lease owner said the water was crystal clear before then.  I'll let everyone know the findings as soon as know.  Take care.......

Very cool. I'd like to dive it sometime before when/if it opens up to the public.

Where are you sending the water sample and how much is it going to cost?  There's a pond near me that is crystal clear, but that is very odd for this area of Mississippi.  I'd like to have it tested.
