Nitrogen fills in your tires?????

Lately I've been hearing custom wheel and tire stores in the area advertising that they do "Nitrogen" fills for your tires. I haven't checked into it, but I'm guessing that they are charging an extra fee for filling your tires with nitrogen instead of air. I wonder how many people know that air is already 78% nitrogen?  :laughing7:

Alot of hype and a way for tire stores to get a little extra profit......they are "smiling all the way to the bank"!!

Not really. I thought the samething as well.

It was explained that unlike air, the heat and cold doesn't cause the tires to expand and expand as much with Nitrogen.

Maybe.. Maybe not.. Made sense to me. :)

..........at least you get those neat little green valve stem caps on your tires!!

Out here in Arizona the temps at 110 -118 or more, it makes a lot of sense.  The tires are lighter( specific gravity), the gas cools  them as they turn, the tires dont blow out as often and they dont wear as bad.  :icon_sunny:
