Hi from Oxford
« on: July 07, 2008, 10:28:35 PM »
Hi, I'm  a newly certified OW diver in Oxford.  I have 11 dives under my belt.  Now I need to find some dive buddies and dive sites.  As I understand it there aren't many here in North Mississippi.  I've been lurking for a while and saw on another thread that they were trying to put together a group dive for board members, so I figured I should introduce myself.  That group trip may be one of the few chances I get to dive the rest of the year.

Welcome to the board.

This is probably the closest decent dive spot for you http://www.royalcs.com/scuba/ouachita/ About 4 hours away. I'd like to check it out sometime.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I'll Have to look into Ouachita.  I'm not very famillar with Arkasas's lakes.
Pelham I have heard about.  The scuba course at ole miss does their optional cert. dives there.  I already had a trip to mexico planned so I chose to use a referral and do my cert. dives down there instead of a rock quary in april.  I guess I got a little spoiled, the instructor was apologizing for there being only 60 feet of visability.

Hi Don I've seen you on that other big board. I don't know if we are allowed to talk about it here or not.

Don't worry about it frank.  I've moved a few times.  I know how much it sucks.

J.D.   You can mention any board you like on here.  There are definitely larger Scuba forums out on the web and I think we all frequent them.  We are different here in that we are primarily a group of local divers that share similar interests.........getting wet........or at least talking about it ;D

Welcome to the board. I'm about 40 miles south of you. I've been working with Don Wray this summer, just fininshed my Rescue Diver and plan to complete Dive Master by end of August. I'm headed to Bonne Terre Mine just south of St. Louis next weekend ( www.2dive.com ). It's been on my list for a few years, so I'll update the board with a report when I get back.

Hey Todd,
That looks really cool.  I would love to go but I have stuff going on at home that is going to keep me busy next weekend.  I can't wait to read your report  after you get back. Have fun.
J.D.
