Hey everyone,

I'll be moving to Jackson in late July or early August.  I currently work at a dive shop in Milwaukee, WI and do a lot of cold water diving. I just finished the Dive Master course and have many specialties including wreck, deep, cavern, and nitrox to list a few.  I'm just looking to meet fellow divers/dive buddies, find good local dive shops, and information on the diving in MS.

Take it easy,
Zac

Zac! Don't do it man! Do NOT move here!!! ;)

Seriously. Welcome to MSScuba. I'm glad to see we are getting around the net.

There really aren't any places (that we've found so far) to dive around here. We most usually drive to the Alabama coast and Florida. We also frequent http://www.divealabama.com as well. Closest dive "site is about 3.5 hours away and then it goes up from there.

I believe we are trying to get an MSScuba trip up and going. Check through the site. I'm to lazy to find it. :)

Welcome again and glad you joined.

Michael

Welcome to the board!

If you like diving, MS isn't the place to live, unless you like to drive too!  You've been forewarned!

Well, I have to move to MS for school, which sounds unfortunate from a diving standpoint.  However, I don't mind driving and I will dive in anything in any condition.  Cold, dark, dirty, bad visibility, a back yard pond...whatever it doesn't really matter I just love to dive so I'm sure it will be fine.

Another question...what is the water temp down there normally like?  Up here i use  a 14mm 2 piece full wetsuit and i think that might be a bit excessive for MS so i was wondering what thickness wetsuit is commonly used down there.

Thanks

During the summer, out of Pascagoula, MS you can easily get away with a 3mm, water temps are in the mid to upper 70's, if not the 80's.  During the winter the water gets in the 55-65 range.

Welcome to the board Zac.  I don't think you'll find much use for a 14 mil around here, even in January.
