Vortex Springs - April 19th & 20th

Turns out myself and a co-worker, John are going to attend this years Vortex Springfest.  There are supposed to be 20-30 folks from the Scubaboard Dixie Divers forum there as well.

We are most likely going to camp along with the rest of the tards out there, so this trip should be quite cheap.  At this time we have yet to invite anyone that can make the trip, so if you want to ride with us (we have room for 2) we are splitting gas.

We plan to leave Friday afternoon, the time isn't decided just yet and we are planning to return sometime after lunch on Sunday.

We hope to dive Morrison since the water levels are nice and the viz is expected to be over 100', the only obstacle is getting in the water!

my schedule is about to change again...

right now I'm working from 11am to ~9pm 6 days a week. next week it's liable to change to a 3 day 12hr shift 3pm til 3am. I think 3 days ON - 2 days OFF.

That would be sweet as hell. I'll let you know, cuz I'd love to go!

Yes, you can do AOW checkouts there.  The max depth out there is 140'.

In all honesty you could do a wreck dive there as well and I'm sure many people have done a wreck dive there for the AOW cert.

UPDATE:  As far as I can tell, we are still on for this trip.  My wife had a miscarriage yesterday so as long as she is ok with me going (it's a week away so I don't foresee an issue), we're on!

This should be a fun trip!  Did I mention I'm not impressed with Vortex?  I'll be trying my best to find a shore entrance to Morrison!

Pelham's water temp as of yesterday was a balmy 54F. Yes, we can do deep (It goes to 140'), Wreck (There is a sail boat there an other "wrecks".), Night (I talked with Wanye, he's going to allow us to night dive.), Search and Recovery (It's a huge place, we could search a lot and recover a lot. ), and Navigation (Plenty of place to navigate to/from/near/etc... ).
