Let me just start out by saying I know this is a forum for Mississippi divers, but if you don't mind letting this Louisiana boy hang out, I would sure appreciate it.

I live off I-12 in a little town called Springfield, LA.  I recently got my full cave certification in North Florida, and I am looking for some cave buddies to start making some dives.  I believe Jackson Blue is one of the closest caves to us.  If you know of some closer, I would be interested to know about them.

I have been diving for about 10 years starting with PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water at Adventure Quest in Metairie, LA.  Since that time, I have continued to dive and build my skills.  For a long time I only made a couple of dives a year.  Now I am diving very regularly.

If anyone is interested in heading to Jackson Blue (or any other cave) sometime, let me know, and I will do my best to try to get there.  I hope to meet everyone along the way.  I put a few stats in my profile if you are interested.

Your welcome here, doesn't matter what state your from!  I'll go ahead and tell you, I don't think we have any cave crawlers among us  :'(

Although, I'll explore the Morrison Springs cavern with you  ;D

I hope to read some of your dive reports this summer, they should be quite interesting!

Hopefully we'll get Morrisson back soon.  I have seen some pictures of what they are doing.  I hope they know what they are doing.

I had a really good instructor.  I am sure he would be happy to get you full cave certified, or even just cavern certified.  3 weeks ago I made 16 dives in 7 days at Manatee Springs, Ginnie Springs and Jackson Blue, including one 2 hour 44 minute dive at Manatee.  Cave diving is a blast.  I am looking forward to getting 50 cave dives under my belt so I can take stage and sidemount classes.

How much does it usually run for the training not including gear?

Cavern through Cave was $1200.  The gear was 4 times that, at least.

WOW!!! No thanks, I was thinkin about going to get the cavern at vortex but WOW!  Do you have to have doubles, or is that required

I did Advanced Nitrox first.  Since I started out with a TransPak 10 years ago, I used that.  Next I did twin sets and cavern.  PSAI allows twin sets in cavern.  When I did that though, I switched from the TransPak to a BP&W with a ss backplate and a classic wing.  Since the TransPak is also a back inflate BC, it was an easy transition.  And also since I wasn't diving in a drysuit, I got the redundant bladder version of the Classic wing.  It is NOT, however, REQUIRED to do Cavern in twin sets.  Many agencies don't even allow it until Intro or Full Cave. 

I liked being able to do Cavern on the Twin Sets though because it gave me a head start in trying out different size tanks and decide on those.  Trim is a big deal in the cave environment.  I used twin AL80s, twin steel LP108s and twin steel HP130s in training.  I wound up buying a pair of AL80s and HP130s.  There are pros and cons to all of these tank configurations depending on what your preferences are.
