I dove a couple of wrecks out of Gulf Shores a couple of months ago. One was called Navy Tender 14 I think. Forgot the other one, but we found an anchor and a couple hundred feet of line on that one. Also saw a relatively huge ray. At least twice the size of Roberts' boat.

They were both in about 100 feet of water. Good vis. The wrecks are perfectly upright and you can do some easy swim throughs. They don't look like they have been down there very long (not much coral growth), but there were a lot of fish.

I dove Pete Tide, Navy Barge, YTD 14, And Tex Edwards Barge this past weekend. Went out with Gary's Gulf Divers both days. Water temps were nice. Vis was 25-30 feet. A little surface current but almost none at the wrecks.  Also dove the Oriskany two weeks ago with MBT. Current was pretty bad but vis was around 80'. Had to stay on the leeward side of the tower to keep from being blown off. I did go down and stand on the deck though. That was a first for me.  They buddied me up with a girl making her first salt water dive and a guy who could suck a 1000 psi before he reached the tower. Got back on the boat with 1200 psi the first dive and 1500 psi the second dive, but hey, that's buddy diving for you. A short dive is better than no dive.

I plan to hit all those sites beginning of August.

Uhm, I would have asked for more experienced buddies.  Especially when paying $145-$160 for an O trip.

  • Most problems in diving originate with ourselves.

man, I almost forgot that I've also dived The Strength, the Mac Reef, a couple Liberty ships, Miss Louise, and in the Bahamas - Theo's Wreck, Bimini Barge, Ana Lise, Ethridge, Bahama Momma, and The Sapona.

I dove the YDT 14 on one of my last salt water dives and a liberty ship.  I must say, the YDT 14 is the best wreck I've dove.

Do reefs in Cozumel count? I'll be hitting at least 13 or 14 all next week. :)
