A friend and I left last Thursday night for Pensacola for a two day dive on the Oriskany. We booked with MBT for both days and on the first day we went out with Kevin on a boat called Holy Spear-it. It was a cool ride out and 1-2 foot seas soon turned to 2-3 foot seas and the ride got a little rough, but we made it. There were only two other divers besides us, and the captain, so I went down and tied us off to the bouy nearest the surface. The water was nice at 72 degrees. There was a little current and the vis was about 60 feet. There were lots of small fish and quite a few Barracuda around the wreck. it was a great dive. When we came back up Kevin was grilling chicken for us.
The next day we picked up our bottles and headed over to Scuba Shack. We got all our stuff loaded and geared up, and Victor and I even went ahead and put on our wet suits, remembering the cool ride from the day before. This is about the time the captain came out and told us that the seas were around 5 feet and that a couple of boats had tried and were headed back in. They had to cancel the trip. Of course we were disapointed, but since we had dove it the day before we just headed home.
