Well, the day is finally here. Heading out to Memphis in a couple of hours to begin Emergency First Responder (the new course replacing the old Medic course). That starts tonight at 6:30. Tomorrow night is Class 1 of the Rescue class. All book work, knowledge reviews, knowledge quizzes completed ready to turn in, video watched and watched and watched, etc. Back home Wednesday and will let you know how much fun it is, if I'm not in the hospital from overexertion.

The instructor changed the course to next Monday. Says the new First Responder book didn't come in and she really wants us to read it before class. Shuffled rescue back to August 1 for 5 weeks plus. Oh well.

Oh well. Oh bummer! I hate it when people change my plans for me... what's the status of Sardis? What is Sardis?

I haven't been down there for a week or so...Cutting hay, fixing hay cutter and cutting more hay. Start baleing tomorrow. I'll try to drive around there tomorrow and see what the viz is. It all of one mile to the ramp but I'll tough it out.

Ok, finally back home. Went over to Heber Springs, Ar. last weekend and had a pretty good time. My bud is new SSi certed last month and he still has the apron strings attached to his instructor kinda so I went along and helped keep an eye on the noobs doing their open water sessions and their snorkel stuff. Viz was only about 5 feet and there were 8 students. Very few differences in the PADI sessions and the SSi. Saw some things SSI doesn't instruct on that PADI does but all in all pretty much the same. Got 5 dives in and all the noobs got their cert and made it home alive so all went well.
Finished up my PADI EFR course Monday night in Memphis and started Rescue last night. There are 5 classroom/pool sessions and a 2 day open water session which is the last weekend in August then the final exam on the following Tuesday. Start DM in September and with the internship, that will probably take most of the winter to complete. Rescue is a BLAST!...Absolutely the best class taken so far.

Well, guess it's time to update. Tonight is the last pool session and off to Nashville to Martha's Quarry this weekend for the o/w practical exercises, then the final written exam next Tuesday. Absolutely wonderful course. A must do for all divers I would think, especially to be a good buddy. You learn to recognize early the signs of possible problems to come, and how to handle them in yourself and others. I then start my Divemaster internship a week from Thursday. I hope to finish both the Divemaster and Master Diver in October when I am booked on the Juliet. www.sailjuliet.com Would be a great honeymoon for you Michael. It's a 104' sailboat that sails out of Miami and for 7 days you sail along the Bahamas diving 4 to 5 dives a day. Anyway, time to go to Memphis for class tonight. Take care and we'll update later.

Finished Rescue up....Man, sore and tired but well worth it. A week of rest and start Divemaster and internship next Tuesday. Well, not really a week of rest, alot of study to do but at least my muscles can recupe some. But there is the 400m freestyle swim (timed), 800m snorkel mask and fin (timed), 100m rescue tow, 15 minute treading water with last 2 hands only out of water and the equipment swap while buddy breathing to go but what the hey. Piece of cake
