Rules and Regulations for
1st Annual 2007 Gulf Coast Spearfish Open
1. Registration is open until close of business August 7, 2007. Registration fees are $50 prior to August 1, 2007, ($60 after this date). Registration fees includes: Tournament T-Shirt, Free Food for Thursday’s Captain Meeting, Saturday Weigh-In, Sunday Weigh-In.
2. Tournament begins at 12:00am Friday, August 10, 2007 and will end when scales close at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 12, 2007.
3. Mandatory Captain’s meeting Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 7:00pm at Henry’s Bar & Grill located at 10420 LeMoyne Blvd., d’Iberville, MS 39540. This meeting is for any questions to be addressed or resolved before the start of the tournament If you are unable to attend this meeting please notify Jerry or Dan at (228) 392-7830 4:00pm on August 8, 2007. If you do not notify Jerry or Dan please be advised that you are waiving any right to contest any or all tournament rules and regulations and that you fully understand all rules and regulations of the tournament.
4. Headquarters for Tournament: Henry’s Bar & Grill located at 10420 LeMoyne Blvd., d’Iberville, MS 39540.
5. Scales open Saturday, August 11, 2007 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
6. Diving is open to the Gulf of Mexico.
7. All SCUBA diving contestants must be SCUBA certified and possess a Certification Card.
8. Valid fishing license is required for all participants.
9. All fish turned in will be subject to Mississippi and Federal rules and regulations.
10. All fish must be speared by the diver submerged and must be brought to the beach or boat by the diver who speared it. Fish caught by line or by means other than a speargun are not eligible.
11. Only rubber powered and pneumatic spearguns, loaded by contestant’s muscle power, will be permitted. Gas guns, power heads, shark darts, or spears powered by explosive means, or chemicals, will not be permitted.
12. All fish are subject to autopsy. No frozen fish. Any attempt to defraud or cheat in the tournament in any way will automatically disqualify the offender and his/her fish. All 1st place contestants are subject to a polygraph.
13. All protest must be submitted in writing before 3:00pm on August 12, 2007. Decisions by the Tournament Officials are FINAL!!!
14. All decisions by the Tournament Officials and Weigh master are FINAL!!!
15. In the event of a tie, the place goes to the first fish weighed in.
16. All fish that place become property of the 1st Annual 2007 Gulf Coast Spearfish Open.
17. Contestants must be present at award ceremony or notify a Tournament Official in person in advance if a representative is to accept an award on their behalf.
18. Contestants may win/place only once in each of the categories.
19. Bad Weather Rule: Tournament will be as schedule unless The National Weather service issues a small craft warning within four consecutive hours of start of tournament. Once money has been turned in there will be no refunds.
20. No commercial fishing vessels will be allowed. Anyone caught spearfishing on a commercial fishing vessel will be automatically disqualified.
21. All paperwork, which included waiver and entry forms, must be submitted to any of the authorized places in order to participate in the tournament.
22. All Contestants entered can participate as either a Freediver or SCUBA diver. NOT BOTH.
23. Any fish entered in any other fishing event will be disqualified.
