Blue Water Alabama Report
« on: July 16, 2006, 08:44:32 PM »
15 July 2006 Saturday  I had a class taking their deep diver certification there.  Our first dive was to 105' the viz started out at about 20-25' on surface then the deeper we got the worse it got.  The temp. was nice in the first 20' then the first thermocline, then another at 60' and then the big nasty at around 90' 54 degrees.  All but one of us was diving wet so it was miserable!!  The second dive we hit 80' with the same temps as the first dive.  We had a couple of little showers in the early afternoon and people started to leave so it wasn't crowded at all.

16 July 2006 Sunday  This morning all of us dove dry.  We headed out to the sail boat then to deeper water the viz was really bad today, it was maybe 10-15' around sail boat.  We managed to get down to 126' the viz there was maybe 5' then it was time to turn our dive and head up.  I shot a lift bag in which we all done out saftey stop around.  The second dive was back to around 80' feet once again to finsh up their class.  All in all it was still good diving.

Considering the cold temps of that park (I know we were certified there), it's not that bad of a dive.  We dove the Navarra pier, Alabama Jetties, Whiskey Wreck, and Pensacola Reef (old pier) and the vis never got over 20'.

Although, the temps were always around 85 degrees, but our deepest dive was 32'.

I'm glad you had fun, me and Michael take our Nitrox this Tuesday and Wednesday night.  A friend of ours is signing up for Rescue at the end of this month, and we're thinking about taking it, IF we can come up w/ the fundage :)

Btw, thanks for the dive report!!!!

Well it seems that Michael and myself will be heading to Pelham sometime mid August when we get ready to do our AOW checkouts.

I'll keep you posted, maybe we could have a small MSS group there! =)

Yeah, we could have our first MSScub gathering. :) That'd be cool, no offense to all of you though, we just need MORE people. :)

I might be hanging around http://www.deepsouthscuba.net today, so I'll try to advertise hte site and everything. I guess I need to see if they've ordered my VT3.. OHH ooh OHHH :)

Ohh, BTW, anyone heard anytihng about the Madison Quarry in Northern Alabama? Tempatures are supposed to be warmer and the viz is supposed to be better. Maybe Frank and I will go scope it out. I've seen talk about it on Scubaboard.com.

Pierce, I was also in the line weighting for them to open the gate. We left around 5:00.
I don’t think I will make it back in August. The wife and I are taking a cruse to the Caribbean. Then in September I’m taking her on a Dive trip to the Oilrigs for Our Anniversary. But who knows, I might could be talked in to it.

Frank and I might be going to Blue Water near the end of August. We are hoping that our AOW class will make and that's where we will do our check out dives.
