Caught the "Aquanaut", through Emerald Coast SCUBA, on saturday morning at about 0800hrs. A buddie of mine from Hinds county met with me. We were underway by 0845. It was raining earlier but by the time we we moving the sun was peaking through.
After bout a 45 min. trip we were at "Bull Reef" a limestone reef. 16 people on this trip, counting me, my buddie, and the divemaster we hired. We took it slow going down. (I was kinda freakin out) It took me a few minutes to get comfortable. But, it was great! The visability was unbeleavable! (60-80 ft) We logged 90 feet on this dive. The divemaster, Jamie, saw a manta. I was too slow to catch a glance. Good site, lots to see. The temp @ 90 ft was fairly chilly. (71) After this dive we made a 30 min trip to the "Phoenix" bardge.
On the trip to the Phoenix Captain Frank and Dan, his mate, told us about seeing a whale shark last month. It was a cool story! We went down bout 75 ft on the Phoenix dive. We saw lots of fish and a ton of shells. An octopus was the highlight of this dive. It was a great trip! (other than the jelly fish sting)
On the trip back in Don got a call from the dive shop. They told him that one of their people was on the site of a whale shark! She gave the coordinates and it was about 7 miles out from where we were. The Captain just about took off to go, but had another trip to take out that day and we did not get to see it:(
It was a great trip! I'm ready to go again!
