Got water?

WWW
« on: July 18, 2007, 06:17:14 AM »

Hey guys/gals,

As most of you have said and most have thought, we need more people on this site!  I can get a few radio ads done for about $25 per 30 second spot and they'll even make it for me with one of their professional voices!  I'm taking donations from you guys, since after all, this is a free site!  If any of you have a business that you would like mentioned, I would be happy to have that done for you, maybe a "Funding for this message provided by ....."

Michael and myself are going to put in $25 each (even though he doesn't know it yet), I would like to, if possible, get up to atleast $100 so we can get 4 spots!

If your interested in making any kind of donation, please PM me! or call me on my cell, 601-217-2501

I'm definitely in. I feel that if people actually knew about the site, we'd get more people on board. I'm sure, much like Frank and I thought, no on in MS dives... so it seemed. We just need to get the word out that we (all of us here at MSScuba (Including you guys)) are here and serving all of the state of MS and any other states/locations. Granted, our focus is on MS but, any traffic and knowledge that comes to the board will be outstanding.

Thanks all for anything you can donate.

Here's a sample write-up of what type of Radio ad I'm thinking about: "Attention all Mississippi Scuba divers and those who have always wanted to be certified divers!  If you've always wanted a place to talk to other divers, get information about scuba diving, and get information on up and coming scuba related events, please visit MSscuba.com, that's www.MSscuba.com.  We have instructors and divemasters waiting for your questions! - This radio ad was sponsored by ..."

Well I haven't talked to them in awhile, but last i talked to the sales rep at Z106 it was actually $22 a spot.  That was 4-5 months ago.  I have the guys card at home..

Why is that low?

I don't know any details about this market.  Just curious.  I moved here a few years ago but ( in a Florida Market) rates were much higher than that and I think you may be getting a great deal.  Just wondering. You sound like you have a good idea.  the only radio I listen to is Talk Radio.  I am not a good authority.

How about us (with the assistance of the forum members) compiling a list of all the MS(maybe some of AL or LA) Dive shops........  The shops could then be approached about listing msscuba.com on their store web site or on their in store bulletin board.  Since this site is not "selling" items in direct competition with these shops...maybe they would be willing? Maybe we ---(you) could have a directory of dive shops listed on the web site for people to see.  That could promote business for the dive shops also.  Maybe a win-win situation for all.  I'm sure many people are in and out of dive shops that just don't know about this site that would love access to local divers and such.......

just a thought........

A radio spot sounds great. I only heard about the site by word of mouth. Get the details and the cost. I'm willing to pitch in.

We haven't had enough donations yet to get the radio spots done/aired. I'm willing to match donations up to 50.00 for the next donation. (Plus, I'll still donate my part.)

Yes, I want to get the word out too.

does the cost of advertising / or a spot on the radio have anything to do with wattage?

or rather, coverage area? I think it would be more cost efficient to target the bigger stations... like 97.9 WCPRrocks... and 97.5 WABB - at least down here on the coast...

Well, only one person has donated, and I still have that $$ available.  Radio spots have gone up since the last time I checked.. but, if we can get the $$ together I'm sure Michael could work us a deal at Rock 93.9.

Since the economy is so funked right now, I'm sure they are hurting to cut deals at the radio station!

Ok ladies and gents.  The last time I asked for donations we collected $124.42.  So far the Adwords campaign has been running since March 3rd, here are the stats to date:

Clicks: 100
Impressions: 380,631
Click through rate: 0.02%
Average cost per click: $0.48
Total cost up to June 3rd: $48.38
Average position: 3.8

There is a current balance of $15.85 but it won't be billed until it reaches $50.  So at this point in time, excluding the balance, there is $94 left from donations.

Thanks guys!  If we can get an added $200 or so I'll look into the radio ad campaign again.  Last time I looked, all the prices had sky rocketed  Angry

Oh, I forgot to mention, we have had at least 6 people sign up from those 100 clicks.  Not bad IMO.

Well ladies and gents, the donated monies has ran out.  I was able to stretch it out quite a bit!  March 3rd till today, November 11th, that's not bad at all!

Here are the stats:

Clicks 381
Impressions     402,085

Feel free to donate again, the more donations, the more I can bump the daily advertising on Google.   Grin

Click me to donate to the advertising cause!

On this last campaign, I had the daily max set to $1.00 of spending.  Depending on the amount of donations we get this time, I'm wanting to increase that to $2.00 per day of spending.  If we get anywhere close to the response as our last donation drive, that should last us 4 months.

So far, we have had a GREAT response to our donation request!

Keep them coming, the more we get the better exposure we can get to this site.  And no, I'm not pocketing the $$, lol.

I would like to say thank you to everyone that has donated!  The amount we received this time was WAY over what I had expected and it will go to good use.  Within the next week or so I will turn the advertising campaign back on and we'll see if we get more exposure with the new daily limit.

Thanks again everyone!  And if you haven't donated and still want to, feel free to, it will be added to the existing fund.
