Blue Water Alabama Report
« on: July 14, 2007, 05:28:55 PM »
July 13, 2006

Myself and 3 other guys from work we to Blue Water to do some navigation work.  We took bearing from 15ft deep platform and headed to culverts once we got to culverts we turned around and done kick cycles back to platform I think we done this about 4 times until we made sure of the proper heading.  After a short surface interval we headed out to school bus over to the steel box and the found our way back to culverts.  We finally we able to set a compass bearing from the school bus to the culverts through open blue water with no reference at all.  It took us another dive to finally complete this task.  We were laying out a compass course for an upcoming dive class we are hosting at work.

The visibilty was 20-25 ft in most places and this is the best I have saw it in a while there.  The surface temp was nice and warm but blow 60 feet it was nasty as always.

Our dive team has been out diving at least once a week for the last few weeks but all diving has been in almost 0 viz and 2 feet at best.

Good job on the navigation parts. I still need to read up on it and start practicing.

yeah i really enjoy navigation and teaching it can be a lot of fun so we try to get out and do a lot of land navigation as well as under water

Nice report. Thanks. I could use some more practice on navigation. You can not practice too much,
