Done with cold low viz trips for a while
« on: June 11, 2007, 03:12:13 PM »
I'll be flying down to Freeport Bahamas the morning of the 22nd of this month to take a trip with Blackbeard's Cruises.  I am looking forward to 80 degree water with 100 foot viz again.  I'll post a trip report when I get back.  Blackbeard's is $899 for the week plus $40 entry tax, $25 fuel surcharge, and $10 national park fee. Back home on the 29th.

I am scheduled then on July 7 to be aboard the Juliet liveaboard for a another week around Bimini with the Easy Diver's bunch out of Memphis.  I'll post that report when I get back also.  Home on the 13th.

Probably back to quarries and lakes for the rest of July, August and September then it's back to the Juliet October 7 for another week in the Bahamas.  We still have one or two slots on that one if anyone's interested.  Ship sails out of Miami.  We usually do 18 to 20 dives during these trips at different sites so it's a great trip.

November 30 is the date for my IDC/IE in Florida for 3 weeks for OWSI, EFRI, MSDT prep, EANx instructor, DAN instructor and something else that I can't remember.  Hopefully be home in time for Christmas and our annual family cruise to either Mexico or Hawaii.

Gotta find a instructing job someplace warm after New Year's.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Ah man that sounds like a dream job to me!  Are they making you pay for those trips?

Your wife going?  I'm sure she's jealous if not :)

Now why would anyone take their wife to work with them? :)  She doesn't like to travel.

My wife will travel anywhere she hasn't been. Hell, she started me on traveling. I took her to Vegas and California, she'd never been there... She took me to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, Gautamala.. Ever where. :)

She even stated that she'd go on a liveaboard... just wouldn't be a diver. She read, swim, snorkel and everything else, just no diving.

She would have a blast on the Juliet.  They cater to non-diver's very well.  Ample opportunity to snorkel, eat and just relax.  They will even do a beach blast one evening on a remote cay if you let them know you want one ahead of time and the rest of the diver's want to.  That's one reason I'll be scheduling trips on the Juliet after I get through with the IE and get my 25 required certs for MSDT, so we can do lots of specialty training on the trips.  We can have input into what and where we want to go.  Don't worry, I will make sure we have plenty of planning time for the funds for the trip. ;)

Sounds good to me. I'm sure we could get one of her sisters to watch Tanner for a week.

What specialties are you referring to? I might be interested. :)

I should have deep, wreck, drift, nitrox, peak performance buoyancy, boat, naturalist, night, dan o2 and some other non-diving specialties such as AWARE.  As an OWSI, I will be able to teach all regular courses from OW through Divemaster but have to apply showing instruction and/or experience requirements have been met for specialty instructor.  I can then teach the specialty and once I get 25 certs, I can apply for the MSDT rating.
