Hello All,
Well here I am in Marathon for the 2010 Lobster mini season.  I came with my cousin and his family, and we got here on the 23 of July.  I don't kow who has tried this but it is alot of work. We rented a boat ( 21' Boston Whaler) to dive from and it was a former Florida Wildlife and Fisheries boat with grey hull and the green vertical stripe and everything.  Everywhere we go people hide their beer and throw illegal catch overboard. LOL  Then when we get close they say "DaXX, I thought you were the MAN. LOL.  We dove a great wreck called the Thunderbolt. This ship was sunk for a reef in the 1980's.  It is in great shape with lots of huge open hatches.  We didnt plan on diving this wreck until later in the day and it was my third dive of the day, luckily the others were only 15 to 20 foot deep.  The water was as blue and clear as it could be, the main deck rest at 104' and the keel rest at 130'.  When we arrived at the site I was very suprised to see no other boats.  A guy at the LDS said that most people that come here to dive don't have enough experience to make this dive so the charter boats don't take alot of people to this one.  Once we got to the deck we saw a huge Jew fish and a couple of Nassau Grouper ( the biggest Jew fish we had ever seen).
We saw an AJ but held out our entire 10 minutes for a nice grouper or snapper, which we never saw LOL.  We are planning to go back Friday and bring our photographer(my wife) and take a few pictures and video if we get a chance to take a shot.  Finally get to try out this big Riffe gun if everything goes good.  I will post photos next week.

I've been down there a couple of times catching bugs. We just got on a charter boat, they know where all the lobsters are. Its alot of fun and to there are restuarants with signs out that say "We will cook your catch" that was great too.
