Hi all,

my name is Helge (male  :wink: ), I`m 40 years old and from Germany. I found this website through scubaboard.com.
In one week I´ll arrive Columbus MS and stay there for five or six month; work as Site Manager in a Steel- and CSP-Plant.
I love diving and are certified CMAS Master Instructor and IANTD-Trimix-Diver. I`m interested in all things about diving in the mississippi and alabama area. In scubaboard I read about Pelham. Please alllow me to ask some questions:

- are there divespots in the columbus area that are closer than Pelham ?
- where are the next dive-stores ?
(my gear is shipped; need Tank and weights)

Wow, what a long trip from home!  I hope everything is satisfactory for you here in the US, and Mississippi!

To be honest, I don't know if there are any places in MS to dive better than Pelham, AL.  The guys from up North MS may have a better grasp of what is diveable up there, though.

I do know that there is a dive shop in Starkville, MS.  It is small, inside of a sporting good store, but it's a dive shop none-the-less.  I'll try and find the name of it and post it for you.

Heck, there's all kinds of places to dive in Mississippi........as long as you like diving in ZERO vis!!!!  If you are interested, I wanted to try Smith lake in North Alabama.  Supposed to be pretty deep, too.  Otherwise, there is another quarry in around Anniston, Alabama.  Depths to 150'.

Welcome Helge to Mississippi and MSSCuba. It's great to see you aboard! Frank and Will already noted the locations to dive around this area and that's about it. Otherwise, a trip to Blue Water or the coast (Alabama to Floridia coast) for any "good" diving.
